In today’s climate, there are many choices of tire design that drivers can choose to apply on their vehicle. One of these selections is the love child between Off-Road and Highway tires; The All-Terrain tire. Essentially, manufacturers have taken Off-Road tires and have designed them with a softer tire compound, less aggressive bite, and a smoother tread pattern, all of which allow drivers the ability to handle both On-Road and Off-Road terrains with ease.
There are a few pros and cons of using this style of tire though. The pros of using All-Terrain tires are that there is no need to switch between Off-Road or Highway tires when choosing to change terrains. If you live in a northern climate, where seasons change like the wind, they remove the worry of swapping to winter tires when there is a snow storm on its way. The cons? Due to its tread design, however, the All-Terrain tends to be louder than its Highway counterpart while cruising at highway speeds on the pavement.
